Latest Updates from Our Project:

You're awesome—$1.2M and rising!
over 7 years ago – Fri, Dec 09, 2016 at 10:33:05 AM

Hey backers! As always, thank you for your support. We've just hit our latest stretch goal of $1.2M. That means we've unlocked the Kickstarter exclusive temple piece as well as optional nose pads.

Kickstarter Exclusive Design

The design with the most votes was the Green Marble temple piece. This will now be another option exclusively for Kickstarter backers to choose from among the existing colors already listed on the main campaign page. See the image below!

In addition to the temple piece, we're evaluating nose pads. This will be an optional accessory that backers can add to their order in the post-campaign survey, at no additional cost.

Events

We've still been making sure to get out in the local community to demonstrate the Vue prototypes. Check out some of our photos from two recent events: Wearable World and the HAX hardware meetup in San Francisco!

Wow!

What an amazing first few days. Our deepest thanks to all of you for carrying us past our $50,000 goal in a matter of hours on Day 1! We have since passed the $100,000 mark and are rising even higher.

Here's the team celebrating the moment we hit our goal!

Stretch Goals

We're happy to announce our first stretch goals. First, we'll be including a microfiber lens cloth with each order upon reaching $200,000. We've also been hearing from a lot of you that you'd like to see anti-glare and scratch resistant coatings on your lenses. Our second stretch goal of $500,000 will ensure that all our lenses will come with anti-glare and anti-scratch coatings! See the image below, which we will be adding to our main campaign page.

Help us hit these stretch goals by telling your friends about the campaign!

You did it again!

Thanks to everyone’s support, we’ve flown by our second stretch goal. This is a great threshold you've helped us cross, as it means that all lenses will come with complimentary anti-glare and anti-scratch coatings!

New Stretch Goals

There have been a lot of great suggestions about potential stretch goals. We’re taking these suggestions into account and will be announcing the new stretch goal in the coming week. Stay tuned!

We heard you—new lens option!
over 7 years ago – Thu, Dec 08, 2016 at 03:24:26 AM

Hey backers!

Thank you to everyone who has pledged thus far. We passed $330k today and we're just barely over one week in! It means a lot to have so many people pledging to help us bring this product to life. We’re hoping to keep this momentum going to push us past our $500k stretch goal and beyond.

Blue light filter

We’re opening a new pledge tier for Vue frames with 1.61 high-index blue light filtering lenses. Such lenses help to reduce eye fatigue and are popular among wearers that spend a lot of time at computers. This reward is priced at $229. For existing backers:

  • If you pledged for the $179 tier and want to upgrade, you can go to Manage and change to the new tier
  • If you pledged for the early bird or customized etching and want to upgrade, you can add $50 to your order. If you've already added $50, you don't need to add more
  • If you pledged for progressive lenses, you don't need to do anything - you'll be able to choose this option in the post-campaign survey
  • If you pledged for 2 pairs or more, add $50 per pair
  • Please note that blue light filtering is not available for polarized or photochromic lenses

Press

Check out some early press published about Vue! We’re scheduling more interviews and demo events as we speak, and will have more to share in the coming weeks.

Lens Info

We’ve seen a lot of questions regarding coatings, prices, and comparisons to existing eyeglass providers, so we wanted to clarify a few things. Our product is the frames and the electronics inside them. The lenses are not something we are manufacturing ourselves, so we are partnering with a lens provider to provide the lenses for each order. Rather than shipping everyone empty frames and having you find lenses yourselves, we think offering backers the ability to receive lenses already installed would be a better experience.

Additionally, as a small company with low product volume, we’ve done our best to negotiate reasonable lens pricing for our backers. We made an earnest effort to have prices similar to what you can expect from a high-volume, established eyewear provider. All of our efforts are to make the project more cost-effective and accessible to our backers.

Onward

Stay tuned for more updates! And thanks again for the support and enthusiasm!

With love,

the Vue team
